- We'll venture out on the Scioto River on Stand Up Paddleboards (SUPs) and experience the beautiful downtown riverfront from the water! Meeting at Bicentennial park along the Scioto Mile, we'll start with a brief paddleboard instruction, then head out on a leisurely ~1 mile route up the river and back, along the beautiful city skyline and Scioto Mile park corridor. I am an ACA certified SUP instructor and will be there to assist with basic paddling instruction and tips, and will also help you launch and exit your board. We'll head upstream about a mile toward the confluence of the Scioto and Olentangy Rivers, where plenty of waterfowl like to roam. We may spot a great blue heron or a white egret. Then, a leisurely paddle back to the start. Paddleboarding is such a great mix of adventure and leisure. If you are worried about your ability to balance on the paddleboard, don't fret-- there is always the option to kneel or sit. Join me to experience Columbus from this unique angle! - An adventure photo session in the beautifully unique nature preserve of Hemlock Falls. We'll meet at the parking area and have a brief orientation before setting off on our hike. We'll make stops in a mature pine forest, creek, and water fall. Then we'll return to where we started. You'll receive great photos of the two of you enjoying each other and God's creation. Other things to note We'll be walking about 1.5 miles in total. **There are no restroom facilities at or near the location. - You'll load up the gear and head with me to the put in to the Licking River. There we will paddle in the meandering water with occasional small rapid spots. This 2 hour river trip will include beautiful sights and the chance to spot many river side creatures, perhaps a bald eagle! Afterwards, we will secure our gear and hike the trails along the river discussing local history and folk lore and enjoying the most amazing sandstone formations in area. A delicious picnic lunch in the preserve is included to help sustain the energy to fully enjoy the treasures of Blackhand Gorge. Other things to note If you are coming from Columbus, we can meet in the 270 loop to ride together. I will supply and haul the kayaks, paddles and lifejackets.
