The Owls Nest Cabin is ~ 2 hours from NYC yet just minutes to popular cities like Hudson/Catskill. An original Summer Kitchen circa 1840, it's been lovingly restored into a private 1 Bed/1Bath cabin with a claw foot tub, vintage kitchen, wood / brick walls and is outfitted with vintage furniture & antiques!
Note: there are several historic barns and the original historically registered farmhouse on the property, the cabin is situated on a country road adjacent to the farmhouse.

Wood and brick walls, along with all the vintage furniture add to the cozy feel. Easily turn on the Vermont Casting fireplace and you may be more in for a night of hanging out with a good book or magazine! A starter set of shampoo, conditioner and soap plush bath towels complete the feeling of luxury as you enjoy soaking in our vintage clawfoot tub. When you are ready for bed it's a good nights rest on a firm memory foam mattress. We'll supply some basics in our kitchen, the Tops grocery store is just 1 mile away and Black Horse Farm is a specialty farmers market store open April thru December...

Coxsackie is filled with history and gets it's name from the Native American Indian translation of 'Land of the Owls Hoot'. The cabin itself, along with the homestead, sit directly below the Kalkberg Indian Trail. Less than a mile away you can find the Bronck Home Museum and Gallery. In town you can find almost anything you need for your stay, with great restaurants like SoGo Sushi, Paul's Italian, Red's, Pegasus and Che’ Figata. Start out your day grabbing breakfast at the local it spot, Chrissy & Tim's Diner...and grab a great sub at Griffin's Market. In the historic Reed Street section of town you'll find period brownstones with great shops and favorites The General Store and The Yellow Deli. The Reed Street Bottle Shop boasts a great variety of wines and spirits and is a must see.
Our local in town pub is the place to go any night, the Cask & Rasher has amazing food and a repertoire of IPA's that is pretty impressive. My favorite these days however is the Pear Cider, it's dangerous good! If you're a die hard beer lover you likely already know about our local fav's at Honey Hollow, google it to find out how to hang out with the owners and grab a growler...or two;-) In season you can head out to a movie at the local drive in just a few miles down the road where you can also hit up Blackhorse Farms and Barbara's Country Treasures, both are can't miss locations just minutes away and can supply gift items and then some.
Feel like you need more? Athen's is just 15 minutes away and boasts a few great restaurants like The Crossroads, Rive Gauge and Bonfiglio & Bread. Just a few minutes more and you'll be in the city of Catskill, quickly becoming known for it's arts movement...you can find my favorite Thai food restaurant called Wasana's right on Main Street. Live music can be found at The New York Restaurant, which also boasts some great Polish dishes too and a fantastic bar that is hopping pretty much every night of the week.
Hudson is Hudson...I need not say more;-) If you've not been to Warren Street it's only 20 minutes away and just over the Rip Van Winkle Bridge. Speaking of (URL HIDDEN) you are crossing the bridge take note of the historic landmark OLANA, Fredrick Church's Moorish inspired mansion that sits atop the mountain overlooking the Hudson River. On your trip 'back' it's worth pulling over the car at the park and walk area before the bridge and get out for a stroll on the Rip Van Winkle walking path to take in the breath taking views of the Catskill Mountain range! Up for a hike? Try Kaaterskill Falls. Is skiing on the agenda? Try Hunter or Ski Windham in NY or just over the border you can go to my favorite family friendly mountain at Jiminy Peak.
If you haven't guessed by now there are MANY weekends of activities here you can enjoy...that is if you ever leave the cabin;-)

I'm a mom of two growing children that enjoys family, friends and travel! I am passionate about dog rescue and have started up Pooches Out Of Puerto Rico to help save Satos off streets and out of kill shelters. We have a beach house in Yabucoa that rents to help offset the high cost of transporting the dogs to the East Coast so we can keep our adoption fees lower than actual cost.
I also own and operate Owls Hoot Barn on my property here in Coxsackie so ask me about options for small gatherings and large events here on our farm! Weddings run May thru Oct but small events and gatherings go on all year round with our grouping of vacation rentals here on Bronck Mill Rd.

To add to that, I have a corporate job;-) my work at IBM often gets me abroad! Love to experience different cultures.
