Welcome to the first line beach apartment of my dreams. Recently rebuilt from the floor beams up, my guests approve. In 18 months on Airbnb I've received only praise and five star reviews. It faces a square with palm trees in the middle of town, it's light, modern, has a sun downer balcony and spectacular views over the mountains. On the 6th floor terrace you can kick back in beach chairs and enjoy unobstructed panoramic views of the beach, The Med, Gibraltar and Morocco. Welcome to my dream!

The apartment is fully equipped with all conceivable mod cons, bells and whistles. In short, it has everything you could need during your visit.

This includes reliable 100/100 Mbit/s internet via fiber (superfast wifi available), twin (independent) air conditioners, 55 inch Smart-TV, washing machine, water filtration system in the fridge for drinking water, recessed downlights throughout, flat iron, ironing board, electronic safe, intercom, fire extinguisher, electronic alarm clock, electric towel heater, overhead rain type shower, hair dryer, phone chargers, portable Bluetooth loudspeaker, full size fridge and freezer, electric juice press, toaster, coffee maker, electric kettle, clock, induction hob, cooker hood with extracting fan, microwave with grill function, indoor/outdoor electronic wall thermometer, burglar alarm, fire alarm, carbon monoxide alarm, kid's surfboard, parasol, beach tent, beach chairs, beach bag. Four people will stay here in comfort. Two in the bedroom and two in the living room. The sofa converts into a double bed.

The communal, solar heated outdoor infinity saltwater pool is free of charge and open 24 hours a day, 365 days per year for each and everyone. It's large enough for the whole town to jump in at once with room to spare. You will see it clearly from the roof terrace of the building right next to the 2,5 km long La Rada beach. It stretches all the way to the horizon and beyond believe it or not. That's a pool for you right there. Accept no substitute. I don't. That's for sure.

La Rada beach is ten steps away across the street from the front door and is a Blue Flag beach. The promenade was completely redone and upgraded in 2021 with new stonework, lighting, plant beds etc. Central Estepona offers a multitude of restaurants and bars as well as shopping and sightseeing right on your doorstep. You will also find plenty of activities and things to discover around Estepona. Natural hot springs, horse riding, sailing, mountain trekking to name some. And there are more than two dozen golf courses just a few minutes drive away and Lord knows how many more if you venture a little further. Hence the name Costa del Golf... Gibraltar is no more than 35 kilometers to the south and Puerto Banus and Marbella is less than 20 kilometers to the north.

You may say I’m a dreamer. Rightfully so because I frequently find myself dreaming of stretching my legs on the balcony, catching the last rays of the sun setting over the roofs and church towers. Swallows high in the sky. The caress of the balmy breeze. Una copa de vino. Birds chirping and children’s laughter mixing with the guitar chords of a troubadour below on Calle Real. It is complete and utter happiness to me. I will never stop longing for it and you are wholeheartedly welcome to share my Estepona dream. We would not be the only ones.

Imagine my seaside getaway right in front of La Rada beach walk with the balcony overlooking Plaza Rocío Bazan, named after the world famous fiery flamenco singer born and raised here in Estepona’s gorgeous old town. It’s a sheltered, shaded, colourful, living oasis full of people and flower pots everywhere you look. It has orange trees and large beautiful palm trees with fronds swaying proudly in the wind just like they should. It all beckons me back again and again. As if I were part of the scene. As if I belonged in this... world. I guess I do in a way. For what good is a work of art without someone to admire it? Sorry, I digress. All I know is I just can't help myself loving it and I hope some day you will join me. And just maybe the world, this world, would be one small step closer to living as one.

Addendum: On the 20th of March in 1969, Yoko and John were united in matrimony in Gibraltar. ”…the rock was the foundation of our relationship” John said afterwards as it were. Could it be I wonder if they could have had a clandestine honeymoon at my place in Estepona? They would've had the time because it wasn’t until the 25th that they resurfaced at The Hilton in Amsterdam for their week long bed-in for peace. All I'm saying is if they did, you heard it here first - The untold story of The Lennon’s secret honeymoon in Estepona.
