The Tiny Big Guest House is a detached studio cottage, cozy, private, and well-insulated.

It's conveniently located for access to downtown and a short distance to local destinations for Portland's food/drinking/coffee/bakery/dessert/boutique scene.

This a residential block where real people live with a wonderful group of diverse neighbors.

We welcome ALL nationalities, religions, sexual orientations, & genders!

We've always been obsessive about cleaning, now we're taking it a step further. We exceed CDC recommendations by blocking at least 2 days between each reservation. We glove up and clean/disinfect all common surfaces between EVERY guest, including the bathroom, kitchen, door and cabinet handles, light switches, and remotes.

Most guests use our studio as a place to curl up at the end of a busy day exploring all Portland has to offer, or hanging out with friends or family who don't quite have room to host them. Some come for their anniversary, or even their honeymoon. Many also use us as a jumping-off or end point for road trips or college tours.

The guesthouse has a kitchenette with a portable induction stove under the sink if you'd like to cook for yourself. (There is no oven.) The bathroom features a spacious tiled shower.

It's well-insulated for sound and comfort and outfitted with blackout blinds/shades. Guests report it's nicely warm in the winter, and nicely cool in the summer. (Even in hot weather, Portland cools down at night. We add a window AC unit from May-September.)

On the wall is a 40" TV with Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBO Now, and other streaming services. There is also WiFi access along with an Ethernet port, if you'd like to plug something in next to our pop-up table in front of the window.

Bonus: as of 2020 "Best Friend" has opened 4 blocks away, it's a fantastic new juice bar and whole food cafe next to a sweet coffee shop, bakery, sushi bar, Mexican restaurant, and a pub with great food and pinball. We also have a great new Thai Restaurant that's a 7-minute walk away.

Our neighborhood is a diverse mix of single-family homes and apartments. Close by are restaurants, a sweet juice bar, bakery, coffee shops, beer, wine bars, pubs with full food service, Mexican, Sushi, Pizza, and fast food. A large food cart space is in the works near by, along with 600+ others around Portland. Our family often walks to parks or to eat out nearby, and we enjoy running and biking in the neighborhood.

A 15-20 minute walk will bring you to Clinton and Division Streets, one of Portland's biggest restaurant scenes! It's a 20-minute walk to our nearby stores (Safeway, Trader Joes, New Seasons), and of course everything is convenient by bike or car. We're a 25-45 minute drive from the airport, depending on traffic. Some guests have stayed with us for treatment at OHSU.

There are many fantastic farmer's markets, some are year-round.

Emily and David first hosted separately before getting married and creating a beautiful new guest space.

Emily is originally from New York City and has lived in Portland for the last 10 years. She's a mom, NPR junkie, strong coffee drinker, and always on the hunt for great food.

David grew up on an island near Seattle. He'd rather bike than drive and loves cooking, yoga, hiking, and meditation.

We love to travel and meet travelers, our most recent trips have been around London, Hawai'i, Mexico, Thailand, and Costa Rica.
