Located adjacent to forest preserve land, it is secluded and private with beautiful views, gardens and a large Hot Springs hot tub! Large private bath, refrigerator, microwave & Keurig

We want our guests to feel secure in the knowledge that we sanitize our rental each and every time we clean. We use bleach as well as Clorox Cleaner with Bleach to clean and sanitize all surfaces including TV remotes, switches, door knobs, flat surfaces, cooking and refrigerator surfaces, coffee maker, bathroom and bathroom fixtures, as well as the outside surfaces of the hot tub. We will also be using extra doses of chlorine every day in the hot tub, and all bedding will be washed with the hottest water and large doses of bleach used with sheets laundering after each guest. Please be assured we take our guests safety and welfare very seriously. Additionally, we block one day on either side of each rental to allow a minimum of 24 hours between renters. Our rental is also very secluded, so you will be able to maintain a very secluded vacation. If you desire not to have any contact with us, we will glad give you self check in instructions. Travel safe and arrive here healthy!

Timbertrail Ranch Hideaway is a secluded, rustic oasis of tranquility and a place to relax to your heart’s content. The bedroom suite opens up to our very large back yard, which is where the private entrance is located. We provide plenty of off street parking Our property abuts forest preserve lands and we are quite far from the neighbors, so there is lots of privacy. The yard has a fire pit with abundant firewood just for you. There is a raised fireplace on the flagstone patio with beautiful gardens, fruit trees and berry bushes surrounding the yard. We provide all the firewood you might need. There are times, when it is very dry in the forest, or when it is very windy, that we may ask you not to use the fireplace. In late summer we have an abundance of blueberries, free for the picking!

Occupying most of the entire lower floor of our home, the bedroom space measures nearly 400 square feet. Your own private bath with shower is right there as well. There is an outside hot shower just outside the door near the hot tub. A second set of doors leads to your own large private screened porch with day bed, table and chairs and comfortable chairs for relaxing with coffee or cocktails. You could spend the entire day and never leave if you wanted to. The fragrance of the balsam, spruce and pine forest surrounding our home is truly amazing. Sleeping on this porch is also amazing. Be careful, you might just get the best night’s sleep of your life!

The suite does occupy space on the same floor as our laundry room and storage, so you will be sure to hear us on the other side at times.

The best part of the whole space is the 8’ x 8’ Tiger River (Hot Springs) hot tub. Maintained at a constant 101 degrees, you can slip into a dreamy soak after a long day of hiking, paddling, cycling or shopping. We use only liquid chlorine along with a non-chlorine sanitizer, and an ozonater, so there is never a heavy chemical odor. The hot tub is exclusively for guest use and is not shared.

The bedroom has a king size bed with a 3” memory foam topper, making it amazingly comfortable. We provide plenty of towels, top quality sheets and beach towels if you need them. When the weather is nice, we like to dry the sheets outside for that amazing line-dried mountain air fragrance. We also supply a Keurig coffee maker and coffee pods, half & half, small refrigerator for drinks, etc. and a microwave oven. An entire wall of books are there for your reading pleasure as well as a 34 inch flat screen Smart TV. Please feel free to bring your own Fire Stick or Roku. We provide extreme speed wireless internet so streaming movies or doing some work (if you have to), checking emails, etc., is never a problem.

Our home is also home to Bear, a ten-year-old yellow Lab. He is very friendly and LOVES people and will greet your arrivals and visit you outside during the course of your stay. He is a beggar, so love him, but please don’t feed him anything! He gets plenty at home! Our yard is also home to an abundance of song birds, hummingbirds, white-tailed deer, red squirrels, a family of crows, wild turkeys, and the occasional fox or other wildlife. The neighboring forest is also home to lots of Adirondack flora and fauna, and you never know what magnificent creature might turn up in the yard. We provide binoculars for up-close viewing on site. We once caught a photo of a bull moose in the yard on our trail camera!

In the back yard there’s a great double hammock for lazing away a hot summer day in the shade of the balsams. You won’t want to leave!

Our neighborhood is very safe, but due to the secluded nature of our location, we do have security cameras on our property. If you wish the camera near the entrance to your lodging to be turned off, it can simply be unplugged next to the front door to the unit.

You will have your own parking space and there are motion detecting security lights and strings of lights to guide you down the wooded path to the entrance in the dark if you are out at night.

Susan is a native of Lake Placid and has worked for many years in the hospitality business and at the Regional Office of Tourism. Glen is a retired chef and folk artist. You'll see a lot of his whimsical creations around the property. We are both very knowledgeable about the area and all it has to offer, so please don’t hesitate to ask. We provide lots of area tourism information as well as guidebooks and maps, so you can plan your perfect days here in the Lake Placid area. We are a 3 minute drive to the Mt. Van Hoevenberg Olympic Sports Complex where you can ride a bobsled (yes, even in summer!) and tour the Olympic bobsled, luge and skeleton sliding facilities. This past year the longest mountain coaster in the US opened at the bobsled track. Don't miss this attraction! The 50 kilometers of cross-country ski trails make for wonderful summer hiking there as well and we can give you a trail map. The Cascade Lakes are a quick 5 minute drive away and offer crystal clear water for swimming, which is awesome on a hot summer day. We also provide a dining guide of local restaurant menus, notated as to which are the local favorites.

Timbertrail Ranch is located a short drive from Adirondack Loj Road where some of the major trails to the High Peaks Wilderness area begin. But don’t forget about the outlying hikes where you will find FAR less crowds and a much better outdoor experience. Our local hiking trails tend to be very crowded during the summer and we can offer some suggestions for optional hikes that are just as great and much less congested. There are many within a very short drive of Timbertrail.

We have a two night minimum stay and only rent Timbertrail Hideaway from mid-May to mid-October. We do not rent at any other time of year. For holidays and certain special events there will be a longer minimum stay, depending on the event.

Timbertrail is a non-smoking property, meaning no smoking anywhere on site.

Timbertrail Hideaway is located 5 miles outside the village of Lake Placid on NY State Route 73. It is a rural setting with homes located quite a distance apart. You will not see any other buildings from your suite. There is a beautiful view of the Adirondack Mountains from the patio and hot tub.

Sue and Glen are a middle age professional couple from Lake Placid New York. Activities: traveling, hiking, paddling, photography, food & beverage, volunteering. Married 35 years. We travel frequently and like to explore our destinations.

Sue is an independent contractor in event management, and managed several local events including serving as Ironman Lake Placid Volunteer Director. I have also worked in the local hospitality and tourism industries for several decades, including owning our own restaurant for many years in Lake Placid.

Glen is a semi-retired chef who loves to chat about our area and areas we've traveled, and get to know people from all around the world. He's a collector of art, folk art and interesting things and is a self taught artist. You'll see many of his rustic and whimsical creations around our property.
