Clais na Trá, in Cromane, is located in a Special Protection Area close to the Wild Atlantic Way, on the scenically-magnificent west coast of Ireland. Experience stunning uninterrupted views of Castlemaine Harbour in a peaceful setting. Situated in the heart of the Reeks District, this is a superb base for a 'get away from it all' break.

Unwind. Relax. Enjoy this magnificent setting. Make some memories.

Prostor
Clais na Trá, named after the fishing dock it overlooks in Castlemaine Harbour, is a refurbished traditional bungalow with four comfortable bedrooms. However, this listing comprises access to the double room only. In the summer time, local fishermen, in their small boats, can be seen in the bay fishing for wild salmon as they have done for generations. This listing accommodates up to two guests and is situated towards the end of a quiet cul-de-sac/single track road. Despite this ‘away-from-it-all’ location, the bungalow is just 30 minutes' drive from Kerry Airport, five minutes from Dooks Golf Club and two minutes from Cromane Beach. It is also close to the popular Ring of Kerry and Wild Atlantic Way routes – both offering some of the most memorable experiences to be had in this scenically-magnificent area.

Enjoy stunning views of Castlemaine Harbour, Inch’s golden sands and then the wild Atlantic Ocean beyond from the front, with fields and views of the Macgillycuddy Reeks, at the rear. The property stands in its own half acre plot and is completely unoverlooked on all sides.

The sitting room looks out on to Castlemaine Harbour (the bedroom looks out on to the rear of the property) and comfortably seats five. There is a woodburning stove which will be prepared for your arrival with some fuel provided. (Additional fuel is easily obtainable at the local store, Hannah Mary’s.) A Blue Tooth speaker enables guests to plug in their mobile phones and enjoy music of their choice. There is also a radio tuned to Radio Kerry, giving guests an insight into local interests and happenings. This is a cosy setting for re-living the day's stand out moments and planning tomorrow’s activities. Choose to relax with a good book, listen to music or browse the Internet using the excellent wi-fi. Take the opportunity to enjoy the simple pleasures of gazing out at the view from the comfort of an armchair, or having an evening in by the fireside. A flat screen tv provides entertainment via a Roku streaming stick giving guests access to their Netflix account and free access to Sky News and YouTube.

Having a good night's sleep is an important ingredient of any holiday and essential for getting the most out of each day. The double bed has a dual control electric blanket adding a little touch of luxury during the cooler months or for tired bodies turning in after a day's sightseeing or walking in the hills.

The well-equipped kitchen has an electric kettle, electric fan oven and a gas hob, a four-slice toaster, a cafetière and a standard microwave. There is a generous fridge-freezer. The traditional farmhouse table, one of many original pieces of furniture in the property, will seat up to six people. (It’s a good spot also for setting up the laptop if a task is best tackled without any distractions.) The kitchen has all the equipment needed for preparing simple meals and the small larder has staples such as sugar, balsamic vinegar, virgin olive oil, flour, some dried herbs, stock cubes and salt and pepper. (Washing-up liquid and hand soap are also provided.) Local supermarkets stock an appetising range of freshly-produced convenience foods, as well as the local specialities such as fresh seafood, for which the area is renowned. Please note, however, there is no dishwasher – only the human variety.

For a comparatively small place, Killorglin, the nearest town, has a surprisingly wide choice of restaurants offering locally-sourced seafood as well as Indian and Chinese cuisine. Visit Quinlan’s for probably the freshest fish and chips available anywhere – eat in or take away. Closer to home, Cromane has its very own award-winning restaurant: Jack’s Coastguard Restaurant. With its superb views of Castlemaine Harbour, it is a deservedly popular destination locally, especially for celebrating a special occasion or birthday, and is less than five minutes away from the house by car.

The modern, fully-refurbished bathroom has a shower over the bath as well as a separate hand set. A non-slip mat is supplied. Shower gel and shampoo are provided for guests.

The utility room is accessed via the back door of the house and is the location for an additional sink, the washing machine, steam iron, ironing board, clothes pegs, hi vis gilets, first aid kit and international plug adaptor. It is also the place for hanging coats and leaving outdoor shoes.

Lawns at the front and back of the house provide plenty of space for relaxing outside on the four folding garden chairs (included for guest use) taking in the wonderful views and having a glass of wine on a summer's evening. Previous guests have enjoyed a barbecue using disposable barbecues which are readily available locally. (We ask that guests take responsibility for disposing of the barbecue and leave no trace.) Because of the house's elevated and exposed position, be prepared to pop on a layer or two even on the sunniest of evenings if interested in star gazing on a clear night, in an area with very little light pollution. Sunsets, at any time of year, are particularly beautiful.

This is the place to be for spending time unwinding and relaxing. Enjoy this magnificent setting. Make some memories.

Gde ćete biti

Cromane, County Kerry, Ирска

Clais na Trá is an ideal base for those interested in spending time in a quiet, unspoilt area touring, walking, cycling, playing golf or simply taking it easy by the sea. Approximately two miles from the bungalow is Cromane Beach suitable for swimming in the summer, rock pooling or simply taking in the sea air when the tide is out. Close by, is Jack’s, a fine dining restaurant and pub. There is also a number of eating places to suit various pockets in Killorglin and the nearby village of Glenbeigh; we are happy to offer advice. And if you prefer to eat in, sunsets on fine evenings are a special treat.

There is a vast choice for days out to suit all ages and interests. You choose! If you enjoy playing golf, you have a choice of courses locally, with the closest - Dooks - being within a five-minute drive away. Visiting Dingle to the west incorporates some stunning scenic driving. As well as wandering around this charming harbour town, you might want to take to the sea to see Fungi, the local celebrity dolphin! Further to the west are the Blasket Islands, now no longer inhabited but visits are possible by boat and there is also the Blasket Heritage Centre at Dunquin which helps visitors to explore the islands' fascinating history. Another major tourist attraction within 45 minutes’ drive from the property is the bustling town of Killarney with its superb National Park. Head south from the holiday home and visit Valentia Island, accessible by a quick hop on a ferry or across the bridge from Portmagee. Take in a tour of the island’s historic lighthouse. Do you like chocolate? Visit the Skelligs Chocolate Factory and see their delicious chocolate being made. You may be forced to taste some too, before you leave!

While holidays are a time for relaxing with family or friends, they can also be just the opportunity you have been waiting for to try something new. If any of the following appeals, just let us know and we will do our best to make arrangements for you.

Ever thought about learning to surf? The Offshore Surf School based at Inch (1 hour from the holiday home) offers two-hour sessions with qualified instructors. It is not just an activity for the under 30s, remember!

And there might be other outdoor adventures you might like to try such as Stand Up Paddle Boarding, Kayaking, raft building, bushcraft. Let us know.

Or you might want to spend a day cycling around the area near to the holiday home. We can arrange to have bikes delivered to, and collected from, the holiday home.

Maybe you have always fancied getting out in to the wilderness but are fearful of getting lost? We can put you in touch with a guided walking tour company. Walks will be tailored to suit the group’s needs with the emphasis on enjoyment, rather than endurance. And if a day’s walking sounds a bit too strenuous, this company can also take groups of six on road tours.

Ever wondered about the health benefits of yoga? A local qualified instructor can give one-to-one yoga sessions or will provide an hour’s session for your group at her yoga studio in Killorglin.

If you would like to try your hand at fishing, we have guides from a local club who can provide a day’s fishing that might even help you provide the evening meal!
