Private apartment in a 100+ year old house in Historic St. Elmo at the foot of Lookout Mountain. Completely updated with bedroom, bathroom, and living room with a kitchen.

There are a few restaurants and a tap house less than a mile away. Then a whole bunch more if you drive just a bit further: 3 miles to Southside, 4 miles to Downtown, 5 miles to North Shore.

The apartment is cozy, clean, and comfortable. It has a main room, a bedroom, and a bathroom. Total square footage is about 400 sq. ft.

The bedroom has a queen size bed, 2 bedside tables with charging stations, a wardrobe, a full length mirror, an armchair with table and lamp, a 65" smart TV, and a ceiling fan and dimmable light.

The main room has a kitchen area, dining area, and living room area. The kitchen area has a full size stove, an under-counter mini-fridge/freezer, a microwave, a toaster oven, coffee maker, dishes, pots, and pans, and utensils. There is a secondary faucet on the sink that provides free-flowing clean water filtered through 5-stage reverse osmosis filtration system. The dining area has a table and chairs (that will seat up to 4) and a dimmable pendant light. In the living room area, there is a 50" smart TV, a coffee table, a sofa that converts to a queen size bed, and a ceiling fan and dimmable light.

The bathroom has sink, toilet, and tub/shower, and is stocked with towels and wash cloths and shampoo, conditioner, and soap.

Before booking for a long stay, please be aware:
- There is no washer or dryer, but there is a coin laundry less than a mile away
- The refrigerator is an under-cabinet mini-fridge with a separate freezer compartment.

St. Elmo, nestled at the foot of Lookout Mountain, is one of Chattanooga’s oldest suburbs and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Founded during the exodus from Chattanooga proper during the yellow fever epidemic of 1878, St. Elmo remained an independent municipality for many years before being incorporated into the city of Chattanooga in 1929. While at the turn of the century St. Elmo was a vibrant community, marked by burgeoning commerce and residential life, it fell into a state of disrepair by the 1970s.

Over the past few decades, however, an interest in revitalizing the community has taken root. Historic houses are being restored to their original splendor, and small businesses thrive in the commercial district. As part of the renewal movement, the Chattanooga Hamilton County Regional Planning Agency drafted a St. Elmo Community Plan in 2001 in an effort to establish the direction and vision for the historic district. According to the plan:

"The goal for the St. Elmo community is to create and maintain a vibrant neighborhood in which residents of different ages as well as various racial, social, and economic backgrounds can live together in harmony, appreciating and enjoying each other’s differences as well as commonalties. It is the community’s ambition to make St. Elmo a neighborhood where people desire to live and visit."

Due to the efforts of St. Elmo’s greatest strength – its people – great strides have been made toward seeing this plan become a reality. From a community built playground to public art, the St. Elmo community is made up of individuals who understand the impact of working together toward a common goal and what can be accomplished with a little vision.

Traveling sounds enticing, but we got married young and had 5 kids, and so to date, have had too many things pulling us in too many directions.

We bought a big run down Victorian house and fully renovated it when we were starting our family—big enough for our growing family and for an in-law apartment in case any of our parents got to the point where they needed to live close by. But that is still many years away, so we turned that apartment into an Airbnb! (College tuitions, baby! Yeah!)

We like to give our guests space, and we operate on the assumption that they are here not to make friends with us but to explore Chattanooga or have special time together. Our check-in process is 100% self-service. Many of our guests—even though they are in close proximity to us—never meet us face to face.

That being said, we always love it when we have social guests who aren't content with the complete separation and just have to meet us. Those guests can find us most evenings out on the patio, playing games, working on projects, or enjoying craft beers or cheap wine... and if we're not out there, they are welcome to knock on the door and invite us out! We welcome guests to use the backyard and patio area, as long as they don't mind interacting with 2 weird middle-aged people or their 5 teen-aged kids! :)

We aim to provide all the answers a guest could have before they ask, but we are always available via text, phone, email, or a knock on the door if we're home.
