Otyokwa is a pristinely preserved boys camp from the 1930's, with 40 acres of land and 2100' of western-facing shoreline, featuring a farmhouse, cabins, bathhouse, kitchen cabin, and mess hall. Locally available canoes and kayaks offer exploration of Lake Pemaquid, with its islands and adjoining lakes. Otyokwa is a completely private environment for your family or group to enjoy on freshwater, yet only 2 miles from the ocean, with unlimited day trips and possibilites on the Pemaquid peninsula.

This old Maine boys camp is the perfect location for a uniquely private friend and family get-together, reunion or small wedding. Camp Otyokwa was a thriving boys camp from the 1930s, closed at the onset of World War II, and run as a private family camp since. Located in the mid-coast Maine town of Bremen, it sits on 40 acres of private land on Lake Pemaquid, with 2100 feet of westward-facing, pristine freshwater shoreline.

Arriving at Otyokwa, you find a quaint, 4 bedroom, 1 bath Farmhouse sitting at the top of the hill, and a picturesque meadow behind the house stretching down toward the water. Get refreshments and local information from our welcome center.

As you descend down the meadow towards the lake, you'll pass the old Mess Hall, a former dining space now our rec room and rainy day hangout. As you descend the meadow, all sounds from the road disappear, and you’ll find the lake-side camp; five cabins, a kitchen cabin, and a bathhouse - all separate and offering complete privacy. The cabins are lightly and thoughtfully updated, using original furniture when possible, with lighting, new mattresses, and fresh linens. The kitchen cabin has a refrigerator, stove, and sink, settings and is perfect for early coffee or meal gatherings. The bathhouse has 2 en-suite bathrooms, with a toilet, sink and shower in each, as well as two outdoor showers.

The outdoor possibilities are endless. You can enjoy kayaking, paddle boarding and fishing, or discovering nearby islands, and adjoining lakes on this large, 9-mile body of water. Discover the Mess Hall, the old camp dining hall that is outfitted as a rec room, and relax with games and books on a rainy day. The Farmhouse is an anchor for meals and convening as well. There's also an ample supply of sporting and recreational goods to enjoy on the adjacent meadow.

We are located 12 minutes from the town of Damariscotta, with its many restaurants, shops, and theater, though the camp feels secluded, it is still being quite close to conveniences. As the ocean is a mere 2 miles away from the camp, you and your group can take advantage of local charters and enjoy the amazing sights of Muscongus Bay on saltwater excursions, and experience a true working waterfront in Bremen. World-class seafood and oyster farms in Damariscotta and the rest of the spectacular Pemaquid peninsula make for incredible side trips. The multitude of trails and natural features showcase Maine’s natural glory.

As the guidebook from 1936 describes, "The camp, comprised of fifty acres of fields and pine groves, borders Lake Pemaquid for over one-half mile. The Lake, which is nine miles long, is crystal clear. Its natural sandy beaches and gradually sloping shores afford ideal bathing conditions." Wonderful photos of the era are placed tastefully in the cabins and common spaces for decor, reminding the guest of the unchanged nature of the place.
