Food Scene
Nothing beats a cold margarita, chips, and a delicious taco after a day of adventuring in WNC. If you need a break from the craft beer scene and a quick afternoon/ evening bite then this place hits the spot. At 1.1 miles from the grotto, it is a quick drive or flat enjoyable walk, with sidewalks all the way. Pro tip, don't miss out on an a la carte enchilada with their amazing green hatch chili sauce.
Quick walk up Brevard rd, this place has pretty famous biscuit dishes, wide selection of home made hot sauces, jams, butters and local honeys. Pro tip: Get the half breakfast for $6. Comes with 2 eggs any style, your choice of sides (aka fried chicken or catfish), and a biscuit the size of a cat's head. Best hot sauce, Blueberry jalapeño. Get there early to avoid the line out the door.

A 5 star dining experience hidden in a dive bar. The menu changes weekly with a focus on local and organic. The only place in town I get the beef tar tar.

Not the closest place at just over an hour drive mostly on the parkway, it makes up for distance with incredible views as the highest summit east of the Mississippi. Take an extra jacket, the temp drops dramatically up here, and enjoy all the overlooks and hikes along the parkway on this adventure.

Not the closest place at just over an hour drive mostly on the parkway, it makes up for distance with incredible views as the highest summit east of the Mississippi. Take an extra jacket, the temp drops dramatically up here, and enjoy all the overlooks and hikes along the parkway on this adventure.

Owned and operated by locals, this is a market created to serve and appeal to the locals of west Asheville. Pro tip: grab a deli sandwich to go before your big hike or boating trip.
