Yes you have to drive to Mooloolaba, but this is seriously good Asian and so affordable! No bookings allowed, long queues for lunch and dinner, but late lunch, early dinner or late dinner 7.30pm [onthe coast😀] you won't be queuing for long at all. I always grab a takeaway for the next day too!!

Best food in the Moffat strip, and definately the best wine list. It's run by an Austrian Sommelier! Grab a wine or local beer and fresh oysters. Good consistent coffee too. Super friendly and fun staff make it a happy place to pop into, they even remember your name!! Open every day plus Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Best to book for dinner.

Neighbourhoods

When you're staying at Moffat Beach walk up the hill beachside to discover awesome views and the Moffat Headland lookout. Keep going and it takes you to Shelly Beach. Great for whale watching. LOCAL BEACHES The great thing about Caloundra - it’s headlands and geography is that there is always a good beach to go to. As a generalisation in light winds all beaches / for a south easterly wind Moffat Beach and a North East wind Kings Beach Moffat beach – (closest beach walkable from House 4 minutes/ Unpatrolled Headland Beach / best in a Southeast wind – protected by the headland) – is one of the best headland waves for board riders on the Queensland Coast – a long rolling break with rides of up to 200m / great for long boards For a swim at Moffat - The north part of the Moffat Bay in front of Tooway Lake is good for a careful shallow knee deep swim (unpatrolled) with some small close to shore waves. There can be a savage dumping shore break when the swell is large however. Sometimes on calm days it is like a lake also. We always suggest to swim at patrolled beaches, please be safe. Dickie Beach (walkable north from House 20mins/ Patrolled Open beach / best in light winds) – is the closest patrolled beach – you can also head further north to Currimundi Beach for more beautiful / better waves and fewer people on a busy day – a beautiful walk behind the dunes with beach views along the Sunshine Coast Coastal Walkway from the House. Currimundi Beach (walkable north on coastal walkway or car 2km / Patrolled Open beach / best surf in light winds) - highly recommended - an open beach break / good surfing early morning or in light winds ....but great for families because it also has a tidal lake flowing to the sea – which is good for paddling / swimming and boogie board current riding. Also ….the Currimundi Lake bordered by natural bush can offer protection from strong winds – a must visit Shelly Beach (Walkable south 800m / 10 min coastal walk. Open unpatrolled rocky beach / best in light winds) – a quiet beach with rock pools to explore or lay in. Head up the hill at Moffat for this beautiful walk and whale watching. Kings Beach (Walkable via streets or Coastal Walkway (longer but scenic) or more probably accessed by car 1.5 km / Bay beach / best in light or North East winds) - the very popular Kings Beach - protected and safe - great for families - also some good board surfing - beach breaks ...recommend further south past the rock groin on Kings beach for longer board rides is Happy Valley Beach. At low tide the beach has some nice shallow beach pools for young children and beautiful views to Bribie Island WALK TO BRIBIE ISLAND! Since the big rains, the top end of Bribie Island has broken off and joined up with Bulcock Beach. Locals affectionately now calling it Little Bribie. Recently you can now walk across on low tide from Happy Valley/Bulcock Beach. Such a change from when this was an often rough barr. We’ve gained more beach space, it changes every week. 2 FURTHER AWAY BEACHES Mooloolaba – (By car 30 min / Patrolled Bay beach / best in light winds or South east wind) – known for a dumping shore break particularly at low tide – good for swimming and board riding. The southern part of the beach – the Mooloolaba Spit is a bit quieter for crowds / my more preferred – and keep in mind if all other beaches are closed in extreme weather – as there will be a great wave happening Noosa – (50 min by car / Headland / Bay beach / best in light or South East Wind) – known to be crowded - beautiful headland waves (needs a big swell) and beaches to walk to via the Noosa National Park Enjoy! CALOUNDRA WALKING LOCAL WALKS From Moffat Beach walk to Dickie Beach and Currimundi and beyond! Just turn left and you will connect with Coastal Walkway. From Moffat Beach right turn and up the hill to the Walkway - connect with the Coastal Walkway which will take you from Shelly Beach to Kings Beach – Happy Valley – Bullcock Beach and beyond. Now you can even walk to Bribie Island [see below]. Also recommend - walking on the beach and rock hopping around the headlands exploring in both directions (being careful of slippery rocks) Walk from Happy Valley Beach across the newly formed sand land bridge at low tide (previously a coastal bar) to the newly separated tip of the Bribie Island National Park Pumistone Passage Walk – start from the northern Golden Beach or the southern to Pelican Waters end – views of Bribie and the still water of the Pumistone Passage Currimundi Conservation Park – walking tracks of native heath vegetation with lake views - accessed from the car park - turn right after crossing the Lake’s bridge or simply explore whilst swimming at the Lake’s mouth or Beach Tooway Creek – at Moffat Beach – follow the Moffat walking path under the Tooway Creek bridge and explore the bush tracks – creek and house views Walk into the Town’s main street head to the old lighthouse, [top of town] behold the views, and enjoy the diversity of architecture from the old Fibros to the new Mansions. Stroll down the main street of Caloundra and its shops. FURTHER AWAY WALKS Mt Coolum Condalulla Falls National Park Noosa National Park …..enjoy!

City/town information

Such a pretty little spot, with several great eateries, my favourite is Piggy Back [sister restaurant of Rice Boi]. Check out The Barn which is in the old railway station, it's an amazing gift shop with antiques and new items along with a cafe. Ricks Garage is a must see also.
