Sightseeing
Carl Sandburg home is about a five minute drive from the Bungalow into Flat Rock. There is ample parking between the main lot and the hikers lot. You can learn more about the American Poet at the visitors center or through many of the events that are held there throughout the year. Visitors can also explore the grounds using the paved and gravel/dirt paths. There are about 5 miles of trails that were built on the 264 acre property. There is the entrance trail, the front lake trail, the Memminger trail, Little Glassy Mountain Trail, Glassy Mountain Trail (summit views), and 2 trails that cut through the agriculture areas near the main house. Visitors can enjoy petting the goats at the goat barn when open. There are also picnic tables available near the lake for a quiet lunchtime picnic. It is open until sunset.

*Skinny Dip Falls: 1 mile out and back trail rated easy that leads to a waterfall and swimming hole
*Sliding Rock Falls: This is not a hike, but tons of fun! For a small fee you can pay to slide down this waterfall with lifeguard supervision. Great summer day activity for all ages.
*Looking Glass Falls: This is also not a hike as the falls are viewable from the road. There is pull off parking available that allows you to take a better look at one of the more popular falls in Pisgah.

Orchards
Hendersonville county has amazing apple orchards that offer fun activities for all ages. Many of the orchards offer apple picking during the season, just make sure to check their website for their hours and variety availability. *Tip: Make sure to go early or during weekdays for less crowds and shorter wait times.
During the fall many orchards offer homemade goodies including hot apple cider and fresh apple cider doughnuts along with other offerings from the orchards stores. Some have hayrides and activities/play areas for children.

Jeter Mountain Farm opened to the public in 2020 for U-pick apples. They also have a store with a variety of goodies and apples for purchase.
