Sightseeing
There are two trails, the north trail can be reached from the cabin by walking inland from Coburn Road just before the Esso station (cross 19A) and follow the tracks to the trailhead. You can also drive to the trailhead by turning right onto McColl road from 19A, just a few minutes south of the cabin. 2 km of flat trail (note that there are some roots)
You can also go to the right from the tracks onto the Thames River trails which run along the river. You need to walk in the river valley and out again to do this. Spectacular views!

Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park has swimming, fishing and a picnic area. It also has a great 2 km walking loop to see the beautiful Little Qualicum falls.

Horne Lake Caves is one of the top area experiences. You can phone and book a tour at your comfort level - crawling through tiny openings not required! They can rent rubber boots. You can also self-tour some areas.

Cumberland is a historic coal mining town with walking interpretive paths in Coal Creek Historic Park, hip restaurants and coffee shops in historic buildings bordered by historic homes. Cumberland is bordered by forest rich in walking trails and mountain bike trails. Caution - if you walk these trails watch for mountain bikes. Beside the town is Comox Lake with sandy beaches, water sport rentals, climbing crags and a walking path

Qualicum Beach has a year round farmers market in the downtown area. The produce and crafts are all local. Double check the hours, but they usually end at noon.

This is a great shopping spot on the owner's lovely property in Union Bay along the ocean . Listen for sea lions! She has 2 buildings with mostly local art and gifts, as well as items displayed in a gazebo in her yard.
