Visit the Land of Waterfalls where scenes of Then Hunger Games and The Last of the Mohicans were filmed. Shred some gnarly trails on your mountain bike or hike to your hearts delight. There are trails for all level of bikers and hikers. Didn’t bring a bike? Rent one at one of the local bike shops in town! Plenty of bird watching opportunities as well.

It is also a favorite fly fishing spot for many looking for a fresh catch of our Carolina Rainbow Trout. Tubing, splashing, camping, waterfalls, caves, and even horseback riding - Pisgah National Forest has lots to offer!
Enjoy a dip in the peaceful Fawn Lake during summertime or hike on up to the airstrip and enjoy a beautiful view! Great trail running, hiking, and mountain biking.

Located up on the Blue Ridge Parkway, about a 45 minute drive that will leave you breathless! The drive up to this trail is definitely worth it! Follow directions along the Parkway and the entrance will be located to your right. Follow the road all the way until you find a small parking lot and bathrooms. Ask for the trail entrance if needed. The trail entrance may be hidden. The trail entrance is found on the right, after a gate. You should see a narrow path into the forest. You can hike this trail up on top of the Appalachian Mountain range for as long as you like - it really just goes on! Hikers have been known to hike this trail for days. A good hour or two should give you plenty of breathtaking views and enough photo opportunities to fill your memory card! This is a favorite and a must hike!
Tips:
- It’s always chillier up on the parkway! If it’s cold in Brevard, it’ll be colder up at this hike! Can be a bit windy too.
- The state closes the Blue Ridge Parkway Parkway during winter and extreme weather so check
