Foodies beware - Asheville can be addictive! The restaurant scene is hot. Two of our favorites are Curate (advance reservation required) and the White Duck Taco location close to the River Arts District, also a great place to explore. Asheville was the place to beat the summer heat for literary figures including F Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, and the town tour bus is a surprisingly good way to get the lay of the land and learn about the city’s unique history.

You could combine a visit here with a trip to Asheville, but the house and grounds can easily take a full day that can be capped off with a visit to the estate winery tasting room.
