On the most beautiful avenue in Playa, 38th street, this place makes great cocktails made with local Mezcal, Tequilas and more. You will likely enjoy the feel of this jungle bar as it seems to have sprung up amongst the millenial trees still present in this part of town.

Best Italian restaurant around Playa, actually, it's the best restaurant in Playa period I think!- Every thing is made on the spot, fresh ingredients, good quality-price. It's a small, unpretencious and authentic place. Great wine selection. Only problem is that all of Playa knows this so be prepared to wait for a table, better yet, make a reservation.

don't tell anyone else, but Valladolid is a special little colonial town, about 2hrs drive from Playa, with hidden treasures (such as Cenotes right downtown) a nice authentic atmosphere, food and drink, a few museums, and awesome architecture. It is comparable to Merida, however, I prefer the feel of Valladolid

Beaches, great sunsets (and sunrises, it's an island) well preserved. Great for a day trip. From Cancun, a ferry takes you there in about 30 mins.
