This hike is nicknamed "Little Switzerland" because the view is truly incredible. It is well worth the 40min drive to hike it! However, the road up is not the best and must be taken slow! Moderate hiking level.

Cole Mountain via Appalachian Trail: Jefferson National Forest - Cole Mountain easily ranks highly amongst favorite areas in Jefferson National Forest primarily for its stunning sunrise hikes. The 1490 foot peak is what makes the trip.

Great hike with awesome 360 views from the meadow. 6 mile loop trail which you can review on the "All Trails" website/app. You will need 4WD to get to the trailhead.

Short 1.5 mile hike from the parking lot just before Mt. Pleasant: very doable with children, but having a small SUV with some clearance is helpful for the sometimes-rutted forest road drive
