~Schoolhouse Falls: Nestled in a valley with a mountain stream and rhododendron thickets, schoolhouse Falls is another cascade in Nantahala National Forest. It can be reached via the Cold Mountain Gap Trailhead just east of cashiers, Nc. Moderate hike about 2.54 miles. the falls are 25ft high and the swimming pool at the bottom makes a great swimming hole and you can walk behind the falls relatively safely. A great one for the whole family to visit.

A bit over an hour from the cabin is this awesome waterfall hike in Panthertown Valley. Really fun for kids to explore, with adult supervision, of course. We recommend bringing a picnic / snacks and enjoying that at the falls. There is a pretty big trail system in Panthertown and the cell service is spotty, so make sure to map out your trail ahead of time! We love the all trails app for hiking in the area.

School house falls(2.5-mile round-trip hike, moderate) This waterfall in Panthertown Valley in Nantahala National Forest is small, but really big on beauty with a great pool for a splash. Extend your hike to a 5-mile loop for mountaintop views and another waterfall. Popular camping area.
