Great grill restaurant with amazing meat and food on the BBQ. The place is trendy and right at the corner of La Quinta and Calle 30. It is a pretty active and trendy place

This restaurant atmosphere is so cozy and perfect. The food is terrific, too. The food is excellent, tender fillet perfectly grilled and served on a salt or stone block. Tortillas, salsas, and sides are all amazing. It is located on 5th Avenue North, and the area is one of the most popular in Playa del Carmen. You can find bars, restaurants and lots of boutiques.

We have not had great luck with the fancy restaurants on 5th Avenue, which seem to be overpriced and not the quality and service one would expect. However, one restaurant we have really enjoyed is called Sonora Grill which is on 5th Avenue and 12th Calle (NE corner). This beautiful bar/restaurant has a large outdoor seating area with excellent music, lights and videos to create an incredible atmosphere. Their mixologist will make cocktails to order at your table. If you like smoky flavors, try something with Mezcal. They have really pricey steaks, but one specialty is their hamburger Wellington that is encased in bread dough, and they inject it with melted cheese at your table. Their appetizers are great, and they have a selection of 6-8 tasty sauces to dip chips into that are complimentary.
