This is a conveniently located market offering a decent selection of wine and beer. While it is small they do provide some meats, cheeses, eggs and some fresh produce. They also have some snacks and pantry items. Do not expect this store to have everything a normal supermarket would, but it is great for a beer run and you may find enough groceries to cook some simple meals.

And I also had to list this as a food scene destination because this outfitter often has great food trucks on sight right next to their own taproom! Check their website for a list of which food trucks will be on location.

Fun hike with amazing views at the top. While there is a bit of up hill to get to the summit, the viewing area is worth it! The trail is well maintained and can be accessed from the blue ridge parkway. From the house, a few side roads will lead you to scenic highway 215. NC highway 215 will take you up to one of the highest elevation on the Blue Ridge Parkway where you can enjoy a scenic drive on your way to the hike.

Devil's Courthouse Overlook

A great place to go fishing for new/inexperienced fishers and families. This farm offers a well stocked trout pond that visitors can use without needing an NC fishing license. Since it is well stocked you are likely to catch a trout. The staff at this pond can clean the fish and filet it for a reasonable price so you can take it home and cook it. It is important to note that it is NOT catch and release, so if you catch a fish, you are required to pay for it and take it with you.

70 Good Neighbor LnA great place to go fishing for new/inexperienced fishers and families. This farm offers a well stocked trout pond that visitors can use without needing an NC fishing license. This trailhead provides access to some great hikes in Panthertown Valley, and is roughly 25 minutes from Lakeside Lodge. Pathertown Valley is a natural area that is often referred to as "The Yosemite of the East" because of the unique geography of the area including various rocky peaks and ridges that rise from this valley.
Check out the School house falls hike or the Little Green Mountain Hike, or both can be connected as a loop hike (see link below).

Brevard is a quaint small town in WNC. While it is small, it has a nice historic downtown area with plenty of shops and restaurants to check out. Brevard is also a gateway to a very popular section of Pisgah National Forest that gives access to Looking Glass Rock, Davidson River, Cradle of Forestry, and Looking Glass Falls. Check out Eucusta Brewery or Oscar Blues Brewery after your outdoor adventures. Many hikers and mountain bikers continue past Brevard in order to access Dupont State Forest for many more great hikes with access to waterfalls and a variety of terrain.

Plan your grocery shopping!
This vacation home is in a remote area. The nearest full sized grocery stores are about 25 minutes away in either Brevard or Cashiers, NC. It is recommended that you bring some groceries for your trip because of the limited amount of grocery stores and restaurants. Same goes for department stores. There is not a Walmart or Target close by, so plan ahead when packing for your trip. There is a Dollar General store about 15 minutes away near Sapphire, NC. Most restaurants are not open late (most close around 9pm) so plan accordingly.

Pack for mountain weather
No matter the season, it is a good idea to pack a variety of clothes when traveling to this part of WNC. First, be prepared for rain anytime of year. In the summer months there is a chance of afternoon thunderstorms nearly every afternoon (usually brief, scattered storms not long lasting rainstorms). Also, it can get cool at night during Summer because of the elevation (roughly 3300 ft). Temperatures can fall into the 60s or even upper 50s. Bring some long sleeves that you can layer on top of other clothes in summer or any season.
