Park in the lot off of 93. Short hike up the gravel road for beautiful views of golden and the greater denver area. Flat top trails once you ascend can take you all over the mountain. Most anyone could do this hike in about 20 minutes, but it does have some incline. Take your time and breath in the views on the way up

Mesa Top and Cottonwood Canyon Loop is a 4.3 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located near Golden, Colorado that features beautiful wildflowers and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from April until September. The town of Golden offers lots of restaurants and breweries for after!

The closest hike we like, about 25 minutes by car. There’s a good walk up straight out the gate, and lots of meandering on top of the mesa. Great for snowshoeing or cross country skiing in the winter and hot dusty hikes or mountain biking in the summer. No parking fee and usually plenty of spots.
