Outdoor walking mall in Charlottesville with lots of good food and shopping. In the summer they have Friday's After Five - live performances at the pavilion. About 1 hour away.

Many good restaurants in a small area to choose from. Can recommend ‘Petit Pois’, ‘Zocalo’ and ‘Hamilton’s’, but several others are quite good.

Historic downtown outside mall Shopping, multitude of restaurants, live music events, Paramount theater, municipal buildings, children’s science museum with outdoor carousel, and night life!
